X° Pacasmayo International Marathon - For foreign runners

On Saturday, July 1, and Sunday, July 2, 2017, Pacasmayo, Perú will celebrate the 10th of the Pacasmayo International Marathon. Situated on the Northern Coast of Perú, Pacasmayo, a small beach coast town, is famous for being the host site of one of the world's most demanding and scenic marathons. The Pacasmayo International Marathon was created by Steve Cambridge. In 2008, as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer, Steve came up with the idea of using a marathon as the vehicle to increase tourism in Pacasmayo, meet new friends from different countries, promote physical fitness to local residents, recognize Pacasmayo's award winning artisans and each year provide a percentage of the marathon revenues to support a different local not-for-profit organization. The marathon course was created to take advantage of the natural beauty surrounding Pacasmayo. At the same time, the course was designed to test the will and desire of each participant. No matter how many marathons a person has run, the Pacasmayo International Marathon will challenge a runner both physically and mentally. However, when a runner crosses the finish line, he or she will ever experience something that few will ever experience in a lifetime; a feeling of satisfaction and gratification that only occurs through a great accomplishment. The Runners will be welcomed by the warm and friendly Pacasmayo residents. These residents will line the streets in order to encourage the runners. Between 75-100 volunteers will support runners at water stations, provide directions to help one stay on course, and offer smiles, high fives and encouraging words.
